The popular holiday island of Lanzarote in the Canaries is home to three main resorts.  As well as the emerging marina of Puerto Calero – where visitors will find two upmarket hotels and an abundance of expensive yachts and craft from around the world.

Each of these destinations offers something different – boasting their own unique character and identity.  Whilst also offering a wide range of accommodation options encompassing everything from Lanzarote villas through to budget studio apartments.

So lets have a look at some of the best holiday hotspots that have an excellent selection of Lanzarote apartments.

Puerto del Carmen

Before the arrival of tourism Puerto del Carmen was known to locals as La Tiñosa.  A sleepy little fishing village on Lanzarote´s south east coastline.Package holidays changed all that though and now the resort extends for some 8km away from its original hub in the Old Town harbour area.Today, it is Lanzarote´s most popular destination by some distance – offering good value apartment accommodation.  As well as a number of four star hotels and high quality villas.

Puerto del Carmen is an ideal location for all types of holiday makers.  As the resort is perfect for families with young children. Thanks to the fine quality of the resort’s blue flag beaches.  Whilst also offering lots of child friendly attractions such as the Rancho Texas Theme Park – which offers kids an abundance of Wild West themed fun and games.

Costa Teguise Villas and Apartments

Situated towards the northern end of the island Costa Teguise is just a short hop away from Arrecife airport.  And started life as Lanzarote´s upmarket resort.  Designed to attract moneyed Scandinavian and German tourists during the early boom years of the 1970´s.

Costa Teguise´s excellent beaches and wide open plan feel helped to establish this as the second most popular spot on the island during the 1980´s.  But that crown slipped somewhat during the 1990´s as the resort rival of Playa Blanca was developed at the southern end of the island.  However it still remains an attractive destination and there’s plenty of hotels and holiday villas in Costa Teguise for visitors to choose from.

Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca was developed much later than the other resorts during the 1990´s.  Quickly establishing itself as the second most popular holiday destination on the island.  Thanks to its great beaches and splendid microclimate.  A factor that becomes especially salient during the winter months.

There are three main beaches within the resort itself in the form of Playa Dorada, Playa Flamingo and Playa Blanca.  Whilst the famously picturesque coves and bays of Papagayo are around a fifteen minute walk away from the town centre.
