Golf Swing Mechanics

July 17th, 2009 |

As a keen golfer you will know only too well that there are so many facets to the game for you to master. In all likelihood the most important skill to get right at the outset is the golf swingl. The hours spent perfecting this vital skill will ultimately prove to be invaluable. The golf swing is to many golfers one of the most, if not the most, frustrating aspects of the game of golf.

Golfers are often changing their swing to get more distance or to correct problems like a slice or a hook. Actually, though, the golf swing is just a matter of mechanics and arranging body motions together in the correct way to be consistent. But experienced golfers understand this is easier said than done.

Let us consider the basics of a good golf swing

* Your starting position should be roughly shoulder width apart and your feet should be pointing slightly out – but not too much!

* Let your arms to hang naturally down from your body and place the club behind the ball. If your shoulders hunch over or you have tenseness in your arms, you are in all probability too close to the ball. Keep one’s distance a little bit.

* Put about 70 percent of your body weight on your back leg.

* Straighten out your spine and have a little bit of a bend in your knees.

* Keep your eye on the ball during your entire swing

* Hold the club as if you are carrying a small, fragile bird. You want to hold the bird in your hands, but you do not want to squash it either. That is how you should hold your club.

* An effective golf swing will be a fluent, comfortable motion with your shoulders turning slightly in the backswing and your follow-through complete.

* Make certain you keep your feet planted and slow down in your backswing.  Just about all problems with a golf swing are induced by swinging too quickly in the back swing and then not accelerating through the ball.

* The intention will always be to hit the ball in the center. Hitting it anywhere else will cause your ball to travel in directions that you really don’t want it to go in. And we all know how frustrating that is.

* Then grip it and let it rip!

It may be of benefit to you to take a lesson or two on the golf swing or even watch the way the professionals do it on the television. You will be able to find many articles and websites providing golf swing tips, so why not use them and learn from them. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect, so, practice, practice, practice. And after you have practised, then practice some more.

Learning to swing a golf club takes years of practice as any keen golfer will tell you. You will need to master a hundred and one techniques and more and they all have to be working in exactly the right ways at exactly the right time to a have a good, consistent golf swing. Sometimes this just doesn’t happen, but when it does, it certainly is a great feeling! Just stick at it and don’t get too despondent if you do not get it right straightaway. If you stick to the principles and are committed to the effort and the practice you will get it right.

Above all else, enjoy your golf. All golfers will agree that it is a truly fascinating and enjoyable game to play.

The Simple Golf Swing

July 15th, 2009 |

While golf is a game with a simple concept, which is that you are supposed to hit a ball towards a hole at the other side, there is much difficulty in that task.

Eighty percent of all golfers don’t get to achieve a handicap of less than 18. This is simply because of inconsistency in their golf swing. While you may have difficulties, it should be simple as the only thing that you really need to achieve is consistency.

Achieving this golden consistency can help you hit the ball square, letting you go at longer distances every time and shave off 7-10 or more strokes off your score. The key principle to consistency is to have a simple golf swing.

It is a swing where there is no wasted movement and is easy to do, no matter what. The best way to do anything, whether it is golf or anything else, is to keep it simple.

Spine

One of the secrets to a good golf swing is to have a stable spine which you can work around. Keeping it straight will enable you to use your spine as an axis for your body rotation.

Most golfers with high handicaps have a lot of unnecessary movements, swaying as they swing. This makes them waste a lot of energy in those movements and not let them focus on the ball itself. The best way to achieve that consistency is to coil around your spine and limit hip rotation. This will let you put power into your golf swing.

Limit Hip Movement

By having a stable spine, you are to limit hip rotation in your swing. Hip rotation is good for other sports like boxing, but it is no good in golf. Hip rotation will cause you to sway as you swing, which makes it ineffective. Only swing around your spine, and you can take the sway away from your swing.

Backswing

Power is crucial in a golf swing. You can get this by not swinging the club too far back as all you need is to coil around your spine. This is a key in getting power.

Those are three basic principles you need to keep in mind - swing around a stable spine, limit your hip rotation, and shorten your backswing as you don’t really need to swing it back to parallel. These can help you achieve efficient movement in your swing.

The thing you have to remember is that the best golf swing does not have a lot of movement to it at all. Professional golfers understand this principle, and that is why they have such low scores. By keeping it simple, they can achieve consistency in their swings and hit the ball right at the center.

A simple golf swing helps a player perform even at the harshest and most nerve-wracking of conditions. When you have trained well and long and hard, your body becomes the golf swing itself, as some golfers put it, and almost effortlessly, your swing becomes consistent. By achieving the most perfect golf swing for you, your confidence will be increased.

This will let you play without distractions even in tournament play, where the pressure can faze other people out. Once you get it, all you need to tune up is your mental game.

Improve Your Golf Swing by Using a Simple Swing

July 15th, 2009 |

The golf game requires control, consistency, and accuracy for hitting the ball and driving it towards the target. To achieve this, golfers must try to achieve the perfect golf swing needed for each shot. As the objective of the game is to take the least amount of strokes at each hole, you will no doubt want to improve your golf swing.

The Perfect Golf Swing Does Not Exist!

When discussing the topic of how to improve your golf swing, it is normally assumed that we are talking about the conventional or traditional golf swing. Trying to accomplish the Proper Golf Swing in this way is easier said than done. On the whole, the PGA Tour pros use the conventional swing - if it was that easy to master you shouldn’t see them hooking or slicing their ball into the hazards.

What Matters is a Perfect Impact

Many PGA professionals have very unconventional golf swings. What counts though, is how they make perfect impact, not how perfect their golf swing is. If you have taken golf lessons or read a golf instruction book, you will have realized that there are many components that make up the golf swing - for the novice golfer it can seam impossible to put all these components together on a consistent basis.

You have to concentrate on cocking your wrist at the right time, finishing the backswing with your driver parallel to the ground and pointing towards the target, and the weight shift. Wouldn’t it be better to simplify your golf swing?

Try The Simple Golf Swing

Many golfers have struggled, as I have, to dominate the conventional swing. But I read about The Simple Swing technique that has less movements so I decided to try it. Wow! It was the best choice I have made. My game is now more consistent and I have better accuracy and my distance is improving little by little.

A Good Foundation

The first step to improve your golf swing is to learn the right grip, correct setup position, and alignment. Without learning these fundamental parts, it doesn’t really matter what type of swing you learn, your results will be terrible.

A “New” Perfect Golf Swing

I now have what I consider to be a perfect golf swing - by learning how to implement the simple swing. It sure does not look as beautiful as the Tiger Woods golf swing, but it gives me the outcome that I want. It involves basically, a shortened back-swing, less lateral movement by pivoting around the spine, and moving my chest, shoulders, and arms in a coordinated way.

If you want to Improve Your Golf Swing then find a swing that actually works for you. This simple swing technique will make your swing repeatable and will result in a more consistent game on the golf course. Even better, this simple golf swing can be learned and put into practice in less than a week - so what are you waiting for!
