Learn The Benefits Of International Travel Health Insurance

July 27th, 2010 |

If your health insurance plan does not cover incidents that occur abroad (and most do not), then you will need supplemental coverage while traveling internationally. If you have an upcoming journey abroad for business reasons or simply for fun, you should look into the insurance made especially for international travelers: international health insurance.

Overseas health insurance offers you access to affordable high-quality healthcare no matter where your travels take you. You can save money on medical care from skilled professionals all over the world.

While health care in and of itself is extremely valuable, it is not the only benefit to this coverage.Several plans offer you access to international travel concierge services, which you can use to help overcome language and logistical barriers when you have lost luggage, need to adjust your accommodations, rent a car, or in many other situations.

For many travelers, preparation begins and ends with booking airfare and hotel and making sure their passport is current. They do not begin to imagine the possibility of medical issues occurring during their trip.

But the truth is that there are many potential problems that could lead to the need for medical care.International travel often involves long plane rides, exposure to substandard quality air or water, exposure to new types of foods, and experiencing new environments, all of which may play a role in encouraging health problems. That is where having international health insurance really pays off.

The investment you’ll make in international health insurance is much smaller than the comparative cost of getting health care without an insurance policy. As you apply for coverage, you will share details including age, health risk factors, your destination, and how long you will be there.

The Internet makes it simple to research and compare different international health insurance policies. You can compare multiple types of coverage this way, allowing you to find the perfect fit in terms of benefits and price range.

The cost of being uninsured is quite expensive, and it can also cause logistical issues that create additional problems for you. Illness and injury are more common during travel than you might think, and the last thing you want in these situations is to not know where to get coverage, or to not be able to pay it. International health insurance will assure you of the ability to locate and afford great medical care.

Motorhome Getaways Mean Memorable Family Vacations

July 19th, 2010 |

Would you love to take your kids on some motorhome holidays? Can imagine packing up your house on wheels and just driving to whatever destination that you want to go to. To kids it is like traveling with your own personal hotel being towed behind your truck.

There are many benefits to packing a travel trailer rather than flying and staying in hotel. To start driving holidays are usually much cheaper than ones that require flying, there is so much more to see along the way to your destination, you can stop whenever you want and stretch and it is very comforting for children to have their own stuff with them when traveling.

One of the best parts of having your trailer with you is the simple fact that you can bring all your own food which will take away a major expense. Eating out in restaurants at least three times a day is very expensive and can be very fattening. Plus it can be pretty stressful to try and find a good restaurant and if kids are really hungry all of a sudden it can create a lot of tension with the risk of destroying the holiday.

With trailers there’s the obvious selection to play games while driving to assist maintain the children attention away from irritation a single an additional. Some well-liked games are eye spy with my small eye and counting vehicle colors. A game that’s generally well appreciated by the driver and also the co-driver may be the quiet game and if successful can purchase several hours of peace.

A potentially large downfall for that travel trailer vacations might be that they are a lot more time consuming that just hopping on the plane and getting for your destination inside a couple of several hours. But should you appear at it like valuable loved ones time rather than wasting time then it turns out to become an additional advantage.

Flights are so quick and hectic that they’re generally very stressful for families vacationing together. Getting to complete airport security on the normal day alone isn’t a lot enjoyable but whenever you throw children into the mix it could make it ten occasions a lot more annoying.

Clearly the best way to travel as a family would be a motorhome holiday. The time together is priceless and the things that are seen and experienced are remembered by kids for a lifetime.

How To Get To Isle Of Wight From London?

June 22nd, 2010 |

Isle of Wight is famous for family holiday and also it’s music festival that goes on few times over the summer and many people are looking to go those festival one of which starts this weekend for few days. Most people just catch a ferry there yes unfortunately there is no luxury cruises that you can take to get to Isle of Wight (for posh people, joking).

So how do I travel to Isle Of Wight with my family? To get to Isle of Wight you have to catch a ferry from Portsmouth now you have to figure out a way to get to Portsmouth. There are various ways of getting to Portsmouth, one is to drive there, another way is to catch a train there or you can get a coach to Portsmouth from Central London. I would recommend you to drive to Portsmouth then take a car ferry to Isle Of Wight.

The easiest way is really driving to Portsmouth because you will be able to take your car inside the ferry and then drive in Isle of Wight, which you will need trust me. From London all you need to do is follow M25 towards Gatwick then after few miles take M3 towards Southampton and after 50 odd miles you will need to take Portsmouth M27 exit. When you get to M27 you are about 20 to 30 mins away from Portsmouth depending on the traffic. Then take A3 which will take you to Portsmouth town centre and then you follow signs to Car Ferry. Taking that route will take you to the ferry station where you will be able to take the car ferry to Isle Of Wight. You will be put in a cue for the ferry of your time then when the time comes you will be asked to drive inside the ferry and from then its a 40 minutes journey to Isle of Wight. You don’t have to take silversea cruises or royal Caribbean cruises to visit Isle of Wight. From London it will only take you approximately 2.30 hours to get to Isle of Wight.

Things To See And Do On The Isle Of Arran

June 22nd, 2010 |

Situated in the mouth of the Firth of Clyde the island of Arran is often called “Scotland in miniature”.  Like the nation of Scotland the Isle of Arran has an incredibly diverse flora, fauna and varied scenery, the island features moors, glens, sandy beaches, lochs, rocky coves and even features a lowlands and highlands region. To complete the likeness the Isle of Arran also has standing stones, a distillery, castles, a brewery, museums and superb local crafts and produce. The Isle of Arran is a superior destination for a vacation, especially for tourist who enjoy walking or similar. In the article below I describe Isle of Arran attractions and a quick look at hotel accommodation on Arran.

Brodick Castle

Brodick Castle is an grand red sandstone structure which in the past was the property of the dukes of Hamilton. Situated outside Brodick, enveloped by beautiful parks and gardens Brodick Castle occupies the site of an old Viking fortress. Visiting Brodick Castle is a superb day out for all of the family children will thoroughly enjoy the adventure playground while older members of the family will enjoy the castle’s fascinating collection of fine art, silver and porcelain. You should allow roughly 2 hours to explore the castle.

Arran Heritage Museum

Arran Heritage Museum is housed, on the site of a small school, in Brodick and is open from April-Oct from ten thirty in the morning to four thirty in the evening. Consisting of a selection buildings; a cottage, smiddy (blacksmith), farmhouse and croft as well as laundry, stable, milk house, coach house and harness room and more. Exhibits reflect the social history, geology and archaeology of the Isle of Arran.

Isle of Arran Distillery

Wherever you visit  in Scotland it seems as though are never any great distance from something associated with the whisky industry for example a distillery. The Isle of Arran Distillery employs traditional methods in the newest distillery in Scotland. The distillery is open to tourists from April-Oct and it features a visitor centre and restaurant.

Isle of Arran Brewery

The Isle of Arran Brewery is found next to entrance to Brodick Country Park.  People can view the process of brewing from observation windows and a viewing gallery as well as getting a sample of the produce. The micro-brewery utilises the latest high-tech equipment to brew an ale using natural ingredients without artificial additives.

Lochranza Castle

The last Isle of Arran tourist attraction I wish to discuss is Lochranza Castle located on the North coast. On first look it appears as ruins 16th century towerhouse but it is possible to gain access to the interior using keys from the local shop/Post Office. Once inside the L-plan tower you start to see hints of a grand structure.

Accommodation On Arran

Finding the most suitable accommodation on the Isle of Arran shouldn’t be incredibly difficult as Isle of Arran hotels are found in the majority of the main villages (Lamlash, Brodick and Blackwaterfoot all feature the minimum of 1 hotel as well as guest house accommodation). Places to look out for include the Glenisle Hotel and the Lamlash Bay Hotel (in Lamlash), the Auchrannie Spa Resort (in Brodrick,) and the Best Western Kinloch Hotel (in Blackwaterfoot) which all have a superb reputation.

Vacations In The Scottish Islands, The Isle Of Harris

May 27th, 2010 |

Are you and your friends currently considering having a holiday in the United Kingdom of Great Britain? Despite the fact that the majority of tourists having a British Isles vacation decide to stay in famous places such as London, other tourists would rather stay in places such as Scotland. In the following article I talk about the Isle of Harris and the reasons why it makes such an excellent vacation destination.

Though London might have some of the most fascinating museums and galleries in the UK  together with some of the most popular tourist attractions  the capital city of England can not appeal to visitors of all types.

Some folk have a preference for more relaxing vacations and other people would rather have vacations which involve a little more action such as sports vacations. Interestingly the Isle of Harris, in Scotland’s Western Isles (also know as the Outer Hebrides), appeals both kinds of visitor.

Like many others staying on the beach for most of my summer vacation isn’t something I would consider. Please don’t misunderstand me, I do enjoy a relaxing visit to a beach, and Harris definitely features some of the most breathtaking beaches in Great Britain, but, I also enjoy spending time elsewhere while on a vacation. I like to soak in the atmosphere, I also like to experience the local culture and especially enjoy sampling the food. If the truth be known I simply enjoy visiting new places each year and I I spend a great deal of time trying to discover somewhere one hundred percent unique. Most probably this is why I so thoroughly enjoy visiting the Hebrides island known as the Isle of Harris and why I frequently decide to book self catering houses on Harris.

One of the main reasons people travel to the Isle of Harris is to enjoy the the culture and landscape of the Isles. The Isle of Harris culture has, throughout history been incredibly influenced by the Norse, Celtic, Scottish and English races. Today the majority of folk speak in the Gaelic language and although some talk in English, it is commonly their second language. The Harris inhabitants are amongst the friendliest on planet earth and their hospitality is extremely well known. The people of the Isle of Harris are justifiably proud of the amazingly beautiful Harris countryside and go to some length to keep the island tidy so it is incredibly important to minimise your own mess.

Remember that rubbish doesn’t just make the countryside look a mess it is also incredibly dangerous to wild creatures.

A further vital thing to learn is that the Isle of Harris roads are not the same as elsewhere in the United Kingdom in some areas you will need to traverse single track roads and you will have to, at times, use passing places to allow oncoming traffic to pass but also to let traffic from behind to pass. Just remember to stop on the left hand side of the road. However, if the vehicle wishing to pass is very large and the passing place is on your right hand side you can move over into it to let the said vehicle pass easily but at all times be careful not to end up off the road too much.

I hope that the above article interests you sufficiently in having a short break on Harris. Large numbers of people the Scotland’s Hebrides choose to stay in two vacation destinations. There are a small number of other islands to visit including South Uist, North Uist and Lewis. Why not consider staying in a self catering house on the Isle if Harris for and then stay in a room in a hotel on North Uist or a hotel on South Uist for the remainder of your vacation?

Why Do People Go On Holidays?

May 15th, 2010 |

There are many reasons why people go on a cruise or a holiday. Some people like travelling so they visit different places every year. Some people are looking for warm countries to enjoy some sunshine and get tanned. People from the UK normally look for sunny weather as we don’t get much sun over here. To be honest lately we have had lovely sunny mornings but end of the day it’s the same old gray clouds over our head. That’s why people look for cruises or holidays to get out of here for better weather.

I was born and bred in a warm asian country and have been based in the UK for over 15 years now. Every year I have been getting out of UK to visit warmer countries for holidays, whether in Europe, America, Africa or Asia. I take Royal Caribbean cruises atleast once a year and yes I do get paid very well. Caribbean is certainly my favourite place for a holiday and I take my wife there every year to celebrate our anniversary. We got married in Bermuda few years ago. There are other reasons why people go on a holiday, one of them is personal reasons like mine.

Another reason for a holiday or a trip is lots of people live in a different country than to their family or parents, so they would want to visit them atleast once a year. For example I have few families in Australia, Nepal and America. Sometimes I goto Australia, sometimes America and most of the time Nepal - I do miss my parents. I tend to go visit my family atleast once every year. Sometimes I just go on a cruising trip to Caribbean for peace and quiet.

Another reason for a holiday is to take a break from work. Some people have stressful jobs, so they want to get away from that environment, which I think is a very good idea as sometime it can do your health some damage.

Birmingham City Breaks & The Ikon Gallery

May 6th, 2010 |

Birmingham is a vibrant city in the English county of the West Midlands and it is an immensely popular city break destination and  day trips. The city has a huge number of world class visitor attractions including many Grade I Listed churches and stately homes as well as many museums and galleries, including Birmingham’s Ikon Gallery.

Birmingham’s Ikon Gallery is a gallery of contemporary art which can be found in the building which was previously the Oozells Street Board School in Brindleyplace, however it wasn’t always in such surroundings.

The gallery was founded in the year nineteen sixty four by 4 artists and Angus Skene.  The four artists were; David Prentice, Sylvani Merilion, Jesse Bruton and Robert Groves. Angus Skene had bought an artwork by Prentice and the two of them talked about the great many problems suffered by local artists, including the dire lack of venues and support for local artists.  The conversation formed the basic ideas for Ikon which was to be a “gallery without walls”.

Angus Skene initially funded the project, which consisted of mobile exhibitions in such unusual locations as cinemas and post offices in a motorcycle sidecar. The concept was to increase the accessibility of art to the public.  In order to to keep the expense minimal staffing was by the founding artists, family and friends who did not charge. In 1965 the Ikon Gallery was given a glass walled stall in the Bull Ring shopping centre.

Over the two couple of decades the Ikon Gallery moved from place to place until 1997 when it bought, with aid from the National Lottery Fund, the present premises, the former Oozells Street Board School. recently the Gallery has put on a selection of exhibitions and its continuous ability to produce the superb has led it to become surprisingly popular, to such a degree that in 2006 it opened a second gallery, the Ikon Eastside in  Digbeth.

If you are in the process of planning a vacation in the city of Birmingham remember to allow time to visit the Ikon Gallery. Also it is important to know that although there are many Birmingham hotels finding bed and breakfast in Birmingham can every now and again be very difficult. Because of this it is crucially important to book your accommodation at the earliest opportunity. You should know that Birmingham International Airport is about 8 miles away from the center of the city just off the A45 and near the M42 (junction 6). You will discover that there is a lot of hotels reasonably close to the airport.

Wheelchair Accommodations With Easily Usable Facilities

May 4th, 2010 |

Human beings have invented a lot of things over the years. These have been great inventions. Even among us there are people who have some kind of a disability. This article deals with disabled accommodation for the wheelchair travel enthusiast.

They have given attention to the disabled people. There have always been a lot of disabled people in the world but most of the inventors don’t think of them while creating a facility, product or service.

Then there are also people who don’t have very useful arms. The former are the people who suffer the most. They suffer more because they are not able to move on their own. Mobility becomes a problem in their case.

Though a lot of inventions have been made on the field of transportation only a very little  care has been given to the needs of the handicapped people who are traveling. There aren’t  given the due importance.

Wheel chair travel is a difficult thing for the disabled people to do. The field of construction and accommodation has paid greater interest in the needs of these disabled people and has created facilities friendly for these people.

In some countries there are cottages in very high number that allow disabled people to have a happy outing. These cottages have all the necessary luxuries of any other cottage. These resorts would have bathrooms with showers and these would be able to accommodate a  person on a wheel chair. Special grips and rough surfaces would be provided in the bathroom  to help the disabled person to use it in a safer manner.

The transportation provided by these cottages is also great. They use vehicles that are fit for use by the disabled people. They use specially designed vehicles for transportation of these disable people in the cottage. The cottages have a number of people who take good care of disabled people residing in it.
