Golf Courses are a unique thing in the sales and marketing world. It seems that they are always walking on a tight rope. Do you send out a promotional piece trying to get new members, or do you continue to rely on your current members to pass along the word about the club hoping they bring in new members. Do you discount your green fee so that you hopefully attract new customers, or do you keep the price where it’s at so you keep your current status of “upscale” course. It seems that with every solution to a problem at a golf and country club, creates another problem. At least that is what the golf and country club owners and golf professionals think!

If golf course owners and golf professionals put some time and thought into how to separate themselves from the market, they would be able to come up with a creative solution to grow their income! Something that I have found effective to increase income from both course play and the dining room is to create a special golf package. As a marketing expert, I am very impressed with how this workings.

This golf package should be designed to do one thing, and that is to get golfers to buy more than one round of golf. How do you do this you ask? Set up a package deal where that if they buy five rounds of golf, they get a special price. For example, if you have a golf course that sells a round of golf for $50, five rounds of golf would cost $250. With the five round golf package you are creating, you could sell five rounds of golf for $200, which would mean the person buying it would be saving $50.

Most golf clubs that are told this immediately say, “I cannot afford to give away a free round of golf!” and they will look at me like I am crazy person. Well lets do the math together so you can see exactly how this works. If the golfer purchases this golf package deal you immediately earn $200. All sales are final so they must play all five rounds to take advantage of the deal. The will need to purchase a cart for each round, so that is 5 additional cart fees you will be gaining from. Almost every single golfer enjoys a couple of beers and a meal after a round of golf so that means you now make extra income in the restaurant. And even better, most golfers play golf with their friends, meaning you can multiple the money you make by two, three or even four if the golf playing in a foursome!

Golf packages entice people to play at your course more. If someone sees that they can play at your golf course five times for the price of four, they will jump at the opportunity it. You need to have the person running the counter offer this special golf package to everyone that plays a round of golf and they need to do it every single time. If two out of every ten people decide to purchase the package, you just guaranteed yourself the income of eight rounds! Imagine the possibilities, you can sell more rounds of golf then you did last year, and people won’t even be playing the golf course yet, plus you guarantee extra income in the other facilities at the golf club! This idea can be applied to almost anything, from Oc Golf Packages to golf clubs, package deals always produce more sales if the golf package is put together well
